Making: Meditation bolsters

These have been a great new project I’ve been really happy to share at some local pop up shops and our farmers market.
Simple props can have a huge impact on a yoga or meditation practice, mine included! I started practicing in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where Iyengar has thoroughly infused nearly all the studios. Props are vital to achieving your ideal alignment, so I started making some.

I made templates from craft paper, pre-doodled on by the kiddo. French seams have become a favorite since they should help avoid any leaking of the fillings (rice, lavender, and buckwheat hulls). I also love how tidy they are: no raw edges in sight, inside or outside.

I’m still working out details on a “premium” yoga mat bag, and experimenting with different cushion fillings but so far these have been fantastic! I like to work sitting on the floor, so having a stack of cushions is ideal for adjusting my height.
More in the works, along with some new etched and enameled jewelry coming soon.
