Calvin and Hobbs tie clip- progress pics

Fabrication on this piece is done! Everything on the front is soldered down, and all details have been added. The clip is also soldered onto the back. Once it’s cool, I’ll toss it in the pickle pot to clean, and call it done! Liver of sulpher will blacken the entire piece, and then finishing with a brass brush will give a bit of depth to the details by rubbing the patina off some of the high points while leaving the recesses very dark. 

There is a steel wire in the clip mechanism which will likely need a little tightening after soldering, since heat will affect that wire. It’s important to have it nice and springy in order to hold the clip well. It’s heavier than a standard tie bar, so it’s important the clip has good grip.
