Zither brooch- progress pics

These strings are no joke to put on. They're made of 28 gauge fine silver (some will be 18k, they're not on yet). On the scroll (left) side, the tuning pegs are actually hook shaped, so I'm able to wrap the wire around the peg without fear of the wire slipping off the end. It's very small work, and I can tell my eyes aren't as sharp as they were 10 years ago. 

Tomorrow I'll finish the strings, and hopefully move on the the settings (three magnets, one diamond). 

Update: it's almost done!! I underestimated the amount of wire needed for the strings by a couple inches 😩. So that's on the way, but everything else, including the settings are all done! 

The magnets were much harder to set than anticipated- they have flat tops, which are always hard to set. What I didn't anticipate though was that the settings must be done after the strings are attached, but once the strings are attached, there's no way to put downward pressure on the settings! It took a lot of awkward angles and lighter pressure, but the magnets are indeed set.
