Little Prince earrings

Just a quick commission, sterling silver star earrings inspired by the illustrations in The Little Prince. These are flying all the way to Switzerland next week.

Here's how they were made. The template was taped to the silver with double sided tape, and one set of stars was cut out. Since half the stars were to be "outlines", I drilled and cut out the centers first, since it's easier to hold a big sheet instead of tiny stars.

Little loops were soldered onto the backs of the stars so they could be hung onto chain. One side of the loop is soldered on, the other is not so the loop can be opened. A rifling file was used to creat sharp lines on the surface of half the stars. The others were polished to a mirror finish.

Assembled and done! The bulk of the time on this set of earrings was spend sanding the edges and flat surfaces after piercing and soldering (about 90 minutes). The whole pair. from start to finish took about 3 hours.
