Making time to work

Naïve, pregnant me though it would be totally manageable to get into the studio once the baby was born. I though he would be totally cool hanging out in a bassinet next to my bench while I got in some quality work time. LOL!

It’s hard. Between keeping everyone fed, maintaining some level of cleanliness around the house, walking and entertaining the dogs, putting in some hours at my day job and occasionally squeezing in a little time to exercise life is busy to say the least. But I have made it a priority to spend a few hours here and there making jewelry, because having some time to be creative is just as important as all that other stuff.

I’ve just finished up a fresh batch of jewelry: cast sterling silver birds set with loads of my favorite gems. I cast these a while back at the Irvine Fine Arts Center so these past few weeks all I’ve had to do is add bails, build settings and string pearls.

Coming up next will be matching earrings, this time cast in resin rather than silver to reduce their weight. Keep an eye out for them soon!

All of this work will be available on my website and at Copperwood Artware in downtown Orange, CA if you’re in the area.
