How to Show Off

One of my biggest projects right now(aside from making jewelry!) is creating a solid display for shows. Displays should ideally show off your work without overwhelming it or looking cluttered. Just like in a painting, there should be a sense of flow, drawing people in and keeping their attention.

Inspired by this Pinterest find, I had some 8 foot wood beams cut down to 4", 6" and 8" lenghts. Unfortunately, Home Depot's saw chewed up the ends, leaving quite a bit of sanding to be done. Hence the new palm sander.

I <3 palm sanders!

We had an unexpectadly rainy week here in Southern California. Normally I don't have to think twice about whether or not it's a good woodworking day, and I ignored the unsusal humidity. Of course, a bunch of seams popped and needed to be redone. But, these homemade trays are starting to shape up! Along with the taller pedistals and some necklace stands, this display is starting to pull together.

poped seams, reglued and ready to be used!

With our honeymoon fast approaching, I have about 18 weeks to get everything from marketing to jewelry production done for the upcoming Contemporary Crafts Market in Pasadena this November 13-15.
